Tank installation next to active university campus building.
THE CHALLENGE
To install a water tank 5m deep next to a multi story building without undermining the foundation. Because of the proximity to the building the pit could not be benched, and sheet pile was also not an option due to the level of vibrations.
THE SOLUTION
We offered a double slide rail box setup of 4m x 4m x 2.8m deep. With the slide rail installed in a dig and push method, positive pressure was kept on the soil around the pit keeping the foundation of the building secure. Safety accessories such as handrails, access platform with fall arrest and davit arm assembly was also used.
